What are some of the main superstitious beliefs?

I'm writing a story and it's going to involve a lot of superstition. I've searched the internet, but it gives me the sort of ones I've never heard of before. I'm looking for the "if you spill salt you get bad luck" or "find a four-leafed clover and you will get good luck" type of ones. Do you know any?
