When will my ear holes close up?

I had my ears pierced 18 years ago and havent worn an earring in 15 years. A month or so ago my daughter go her ears pierced and I decided to see if an earring would go in my piercing. It went right in after 15 years. The chance that your pencil eraser sized piercing will close is very very slim. Maybe see a doctor about having it surgically repaired.
