Help in my statistics project: multi linear regression?

I am doing a project that needs to have one response variable and six predictors. My variables are total (ie the total number of people in different job sectors), male, female, black, white, asians, latino, disabled, not disabled, and occupation (which is 1,2,3,4 where 1=teachers, 2=doctors, 3=nurse, 4=waitresses). I am having a hard time to yze this data. Which variable should I use as the Y/response variable? Please help...
