Where to claim gift cerftificate?

Hello Friend, Just before a month i received a US $10 gift cheque from an online survey. Its a gift cheque. In letter it say that i can claim from American Express office, but when i ask american express office they say they only accept traveller cheque. I want to know from where can i get cash from this? Or which shopping mall accept gift certificate for purchasing? Please reply ASAP.
